Back in February, a couple of local women, Linda Richardson and Liz DeWitt, realized that Pittsburgh lacked a strong membership group devoted solely to women in technology fields.

In March, TechPOWR was born!  The group started with only 16 people at the first meeting and has grown to over 60 members across the ‘Burgh.  The first meeting I attended was Wine and Cheese back in April.  I had some wine, great appetizers, and didn’t stop talking the entire evening.  I have been to my share of networking events where I walk around, looking lost, talking to people at display tables because no one would open a conversation with me.  TechPOWR was different.  They welcomed everyone and introduced each person around the room.  I couldn’t recommend a better group to join if you are a woman in a technology field or company wanting to meet and build relationships with other women.

I liked this group so much that I convinced the CEO of NuRelm, Sam Shaaban, to speak at the next one.  August 25th at 5:30 at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association Sam will kick off the night talking about ways to promote your Web site on a budget and track results. Click Here if you are interested in checking out this group and the event details. Check it out and bring a friend!
